Also known as: Equipoise · EQ · Bold · Boldenone

A testosterone derivative with enhanced anabolic properties and strong effects on red blood cell production, collagen synthesis, and appetite — originally developed for veterinary use.

Overview

Boldenone Undecylenate (Equipoise) is a testosterone derivative originally developed for veterinary use in horses. It has a unique double bond at the C1-2 position that reduces its androgenic potency while maintaining strong anabolic effects. Boldenone has an anabolic rating of 100 and androgenic rating of 50, making it milder than testosterone in androgenic tissues. Boldenone is notable for its strong stimulation of erythropoietin (EPO) production, leading to significant increases in red blood cell count and hemoglobin. This can improve oxygen delivery and endurance but requires monitoring of hematocrit levels.

It also significantly increases collagen synthesis and appetite, and produces slow, steady lean tissue gains with minimal water retention. In wellness contexts, boldenone is sometimes used at low doses for its collagen-stimulating and erythropoietic properties. However, it has a very long detection time, can increase anxiety in some users, and its metabolites can persist for up to 18 months. It is not FDA-approved for human use.

Mechanism of Action

Binds to androgen receptors with moderate affinity. The C1-2 double bond reduces 5-alpha reductase conversion, lowering androgenic tissue impact. Strongly stimulates erythropoietin (EPO) production in the kidneys. Increases collagen synthesis. Has very mild aromatization (~50% of testosterone). Enhances nitrogen retention and protein synthesis.
