Stanozolol (Winstrol)

FDA ApprovedExtensive Research

Also known as: Winstrol · Winny · Stanazol · Stromba

A DHT-derived anabolic steroid with unique collagen synthesis and joint-related properties, used in some therapeutic protocols for hereditary angioedema and connective tissue conditions.

Overview

Stanozolol (Winstrol) is a DHT-derived anabolic steroid that is unique among anabolics for its effects on collagen synthesis, SHBG reduction, and its FDA-approved status for hereditary angioedema. While primarily known in the performance world, stanozolol has legitimate medical applications and interesting properties relevant to health optimization. Stanozolol dramatically reduces Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG), increasing free testosterone levels — sometimes by 50% or more. It also stimulates collagen synthesis (Type I and III) and has been studied for its positive effects on connective tissue disorders. It is one of the few anabolics available in both oral and injectable water-based forms. However, stanozolol has notable drawbacks for wellness use — it can negatively impact joint comfort (despite increasing collagen synthesis, it reduces synovial fluid), has significant liver toxicity in oral form, and causes unfavorable lipid changes.

It is included for educational completeness but is generally not a first-choice compound in longevity protocols.

Mechanism of Action

Binds to androgen receptors as a DHT derivative. Dramatically reduces SHBG production in the liver, increasing free hormone levels. Stimulates collagen synthesis (Types I and III). Does not aromatize to estrogen. Has unique fibrinolytic properties — stimulates plasminogen production. Reduces C1-inhibitor deficiency (mechanism for angioedema treatment).
